When “living the dream” starts to wear you out

When “living the dream” starts to wear you out

Hey Gabriella!

You ever get to a point where you realize you’re technically living the dream… but it’s not the dream you thought you signed up for?

That’s where Kyle and Anna Fagala found themselves.

When they started their practice, they had the same dream most entrepreneurial couples do: build something successful together, grow it, and eventually get to a place where Anna could step back a bit and enjoy the fruits of their hard work.

And you know what? They did build something successful. But it turns out, that success came in large part because Anna was wearing all the hats. HR. Part-time TC. Bookkeeper. Marketing lead. Office manager. Scheduler. Oh—and Kyle’s strategic sounding board for every business decision.

The dream started to feel a lot more like a grind.

When Kyle and I first connected, the goal was simple: grow the business and make things run smoother. But as we unpacked the day-to-day, it became crystal clear—the bottleneck wasn’t a system, it was a person. More specifically, it was Anna, trying to be everywhere, for everyone, all the time.

She wanted to step back… but couldn’t see how to do it without the whole place falling apart—or feeling like she was letting Kyle down.

That’s when we rolled up our sleeves and got to work.

We didn’t just talk about hiring more people. We talked about clarity. Clarity in roles, in responsibilities, in expectations.

  • Who’s in charge of what?

  • What does success look like for each position?

  • Who do you go to when a problem pops up?

We created a structure where the leads became actual leaders—and where the team knew to go to them instead of straight to Anna. That shift alone was a culture reset. It took time, sure. There were awkward moments and some resistance. But eventually, the team caught the vision.

They stopped defaulting to Anna. The leads owned their lanes. People were on the same page, not just about tasks, but about purpose.

And Anna? She started to step back. Not because she didn’t care, but because she finally could.

And now? Here’s how Anna put it:

“The start of 2025 has felt like a well-earned reward after years of intentional effort. We’re proud to share that our practice is up 19% over Q1 of last year, and our team continues to show up and perform at a high level every single day.

Dino brings a rare combination of communication skill, strategic insight, and motivational energy. He has the ability to realign any team or practice and put them back on a path to meaningful growth—and he’s absolutely done that for us.”

-Anna Fagala

The business kept growing—but now with less weight on her shoulders. They’re living a new version of the dream. Not the one they imagined in the beginning—but the one they actually needed.

Here’s the truth: Scaling isn’t about doing more. It’s about letting go of the things you shouldn’t be doing anymore. And that’s hard—especially when you’ve been the glue holding it all together.

But if you do it with intention, with the right structure, and with a clear vision for your team, the result isn’t just a smoother business… it’s a healthier life.

If you’re at that point—where the dream is starting to feel heavy—I’d love to help you find your new version of it.
