What Top Practices Do Before August Hits
Last week, we talked about getting ahead of the summer rush. Not just bracing for it, but actually planning for it so your team can handle it and maybe even enjoy it.
That’s step one.
But there’s a step two that most practices completely miss.
Here’s what happens every single year.
Summer wraps up. Kids go back to school. And the phones go quiet.
August and September hit, and suddenly the schedule has gaps that weren’t there just a couple weeks ago.
Most practices shrug and call it a “slow season.”
Like it’s just something that happens to them.
It doesn’t have to be that way.
There’s a dental office in Las Vegas that figured this out.
Every year, August and September would fall off. So instead of accepting it, they made a decision. They picked a niche. Senior citizens in nearby independent living communities. Then they went all in.
They marketed directly to those communities. Positioned it as their Senior Dental Health Month.
And they filled their schedule from top to bottom.
August became one of their best months of the year.
On purpose.
You can do the same thing!

Homeschool Families
Homeschooling has grown a lot since COVID, and there are more families in your area than you probably realize.
Find one person who homeschools, and they will connect you to ten more. There are entire Facebook groups full of them.
Start talking to them now about August.
Position it as your Homeschool Month. Flexible appointment times. No back-to-school chaos. Come in when it works for your family.
That message lands, because their August looks completely different from everyone else’s.
Adults and seniors.
A lot of adult patients quietly put their own treatment on hold during the summer.
Why?
Because the office feels like controlled chaos.
Let them know that August is their time.
Run an aligner or braces campaign specifically for adults and seniors. Start promoting it now so your schedule is already filling before things slow down.
The practices that have strong Augusts are not lucky.
They are just the ones who thought about it in April.
You’re already doing the hard work of planning for summer.
Spend ten more minutes planning for what comes after it.
You’ll be ahead of almost everyone in your market before summer even starts.
