How to Identify and Overcome Business Blind Spots

How to Identify and Overcome Business Blind Spots

I recently read a quote by Ken Blanchard that I just can’t get out of my mind. He said, “None of us is as smart as all of us.”

Over the past decade, one of the most valuable lessons I’ve learned in my business journey is that growth accelerates when we immerse ourselves in mastermind groups, especially individuals from diverse industries. Too often, we join groups of like-minded people who share our perspectives, but that can sometimes lead to everyone seeing only the inside of the same jar they’re standing in.

The real magic happens when we step outside our industry-specific circles and gain insights from those who see things differently. Mastermind groups like the Genius Network, LEAP, Virtual Events Network, and Strategic Coach have been instrumental in helping me view my business through new lenses. These groups provide fresh perspectives and uncover blind spots that are often invisible when we’re too close to the problem.

In the orthodontic space, one of the aspects that sets me apart is my outsider’s perspective. Having never worked in an orthodontic or dental office, I can see things industry insiders might overlook. This “outside the jar” vision is crucial, whether it pertains to our relationships, business strategies, or financial decisions. We all need that external viewpoint to help us read the label on our own jar and discover new pathways to success.

I encourage you to seek out masterminds that challenge you and help you see what you can’t. Look for groups led by diverse leaders and attended by individuals outside your immediate field. While study clubs and industry-specific groups are beneficial, branching out will propel you further and faster. It’s not about competition or feeling inadequate; it’s about leveraging collective wisdom to grow your business.

Proactive, Productive and Profitable,
