How Surfing Transformed My View on AI
How Surfing Transformed My View on AI
I want to tell you about a moment that happened in Maui in 2018.
My whole family was there. Shannon, our three kids, and me.
I decided I was finally going to try surfing.
Now, I grew up in California. You’d think I would have learned decades ago.
Nope.
For the better part of an hour, I couldn’t catch a single wave.
I was paddling as hard as I could. My arms were burning. I was exhausted. Every time I thought I had one, the wave passed me by.
Meanwhile, everyone around me seemed to be riding effortlessly.
Sound familiar?
Lately, that’s exactly how a lot of people have described their experience with AI.
They’re trying.
They’re reading articles.
They’re watching videos.
They’re testing tools.
They’re working harder than ever.
And yet somehow it still feels like everyone else is moving faster.
Eventually, my surf instructor pulled me aside.
Long-haired Hawaiian guy. Looked like he’d spent his entire life in the ocean.
He watched me struggle for a while and then said:
“Let me give you a little tip.”
What he told me next didn’t just help me catch a wave.
It completely changed how I think about learning new skills, adapting to new technology, and helping business owners navigate massive shifts without getting left behind.
In fact, it’s one of the biggest reasons I’ve become so passionate about helping people understand AI today.
In the next blog, I’ll tell you exactly what he said.
But before I do, I wanted to give you a heads-up.
Over the past few months, I’ve been paying attention.
I’ve listened to the questions you’ve been asking.
I’ve heard the excitement, the skepticism, the overwhelm, and the curiosity around AI.
And based on those conversations, I’ve been building something new.
Something I’ve never offered before.
Something designed specifically for business owners, practice owners, leaders, and entrepreneurs who know AI is changing everything but aren’t quite sure how to use it effectively in their day-to-day work.
I’m not quite ready to unveil it yet.
But next week, I’ll be opening the curtain.
If saving time, increasing productivity, improving communication, and staying ahead of the changes happening around us sounds interesting to you, keep an eye out.
I’ve been working hard on this, and I can’t wait to show you what we’ve been building.
More details next week.
For now, watch for the next blog.
Proactive, Productive, and Profitable,
Dino
